Hello Jeri,

What state (and if in California, which county/city) do you reside in? I suspect that we can use sales and marketing people from any cannabis-use state, including all over California. And our court-services department might benefit from adding a paralegal...we work for a lot of attorneys, in the criminal and civil courts, and we also network with a private investigation firm. I'm particular interested in expanding our court services into areas that could use a qualified expert witness, so that we gain new attorney clients and can train locals to become qualified experts, working under our firm. Please let me know your location and send me your resume or c.v., to jasonbrowne@fullcirclecannabis.com
Thank You

Glad to see a site like this. I help out in the local PDX/ The Couve area. I am an insurance agent that services the medical marijuana community here in the Pacific NW. I provide MMJ insurance. We need protection just like everyone else.

Very interesting analysis - kind of a complex, almost Rube Goldberg method, but it does seem to meet the requirements of law.

The one thing that I am concerned about is how a Direct Access system could be realistically set up that could provide California's one million (or even just half of them) with their medicine.

Do you have a working model of a Direct Access system that can be put in place that can provide large numbers of patients with their medicine? What would such a system look like? How will it grow its medicine? How will it distribute medicinal marijuana to its members? Is a Direct Access system capable of producing and distributing medicine to thousands of patients and thereby achieve economy of scale or will it have to be small distributing to no more than a couple hundred patients? How will a Direct Access system be able to circumvent the bans and moratoriums that cities and counties have placed on current collective distribution systems?

Thanks,

Lanny Swerdlow, RN

Thank you for your thought-provoking response and perspective.

For those of you unfamiliar with Proposition 215, we have provided information under our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page.

Here’s a quick synopsis:

Proposition 215 is a California State Law that removes state-level criminal penalties on the use, possession and cultivation of marijuana by patients who possess a "written or oral recommendation" from their physician that he or she "would benefit from medical marijuana." Fifty-six percent of voters approved Proposition 215 on November 5, 1996. The law took effect the following day. Patients diagnosed with any debilitating illness where the medical use of marijuana has been "deemed appropriate and has been recommended by a physician" are afforded legal protection under this act. Conditions typically covered by the law include but are not limited to: arthritis; cachexia; cancer; chronic pain; HIV or AIDS; epilepsy; migraine; and multiple sclerosis. No set limits regarding the amount of marijuana patients may possess and/or cultivate were provided by this act, though the California Legislature adopted guidelines in 2003.

This is a good thing in my opinion. After seeing thousands of generally unruly partiers roll through my neighborhood last summer, I am glad the City of SJ is attempting to do something about this issue.

I believe the town of Gray should keep a open mind. I was born and raised in Gray purchased a house and raised a family. The argricultral business will bring jobs and tax revenue which the town needs..keep the doors open. Running a Town is a business where we should not allow personal opinion or ignorance to close the door. In reality this is a MEDICAL issue that is not going away.
